Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary

The Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary is a Donkey Heaven in Scotland.
This charity, registered in Scotland (SCO 34634) in 2003, to provide a permanent caring home for donkeys and mules in need of love and attention. As well as neglected animals and cruelty cases which may be referred, donkeys and mules which may have lost their grazing or can no longer be cared for by their present owners will be catered for.
At this beautiful small estate, there are 80 acres of permanent pasture, divided into small, well-fenced and watered units. A magnificent sandstone Edwardian stable block comprises stables and stalls. Off the cobbled yard are the tack rooms and other services.
The local veterinary practice and farrier are both based in St Boswells, within one mile of the sanctuary.

The Holmes has an ambience all of its own:- situated overlooking the River Tweed, with magnificent views, it has a peaceful atmosphere much appreciated by the animals and poultry which are fortunate to live there.

As well as the donkeys and mules there are Shetland ponies, llama, cune cune pigs, peacocks, ducks, geese, bantams and many breeds of hens.

VISITS ARE STRICTLY BY PRIOR APPOINTMENT

There are many ways to be involved with The Scottish Borders Donkey Sanctuary :

Adopt a Donkey or Mule for one year – Cost £15.
A novel idea for a birthday present perhaps. Visit "your animal".

Become a Friend of the Sanctuary – Cost £5 per annum
Help with the animals or fund-raise to provide for them.

Make a Donation
All sums are gratefully accepted – veterinary fees, farrier and feed costs are ongoing.
