St Boswells Parish Community Council
Membership The Council consists of 12 elected members of the community of St Boswells Parish who serve a term of office of four years. Should fewer than twelve be elected or a vacancy arise, the Community Council has the power to co-opt members to complete its strength. They are joined by the elected members of Scottish Borders Council who represent St Boswells Parish. The Scottish Borders Councillors have no voting rights.
Functions St Boswells Community Council has no statutory authority or powers. It does, however, act as an advisory and consultative group on all matters affecting the Parish. It is consulted on the provision of services by Scottish Borders Council, Lothian and Borders Police, Borders Health Board, the Scottish Executive and numerous other statutory and voluntary bodies. It makes comment on planning applications and issues affecting the town and it pursues matters of concern raised by community groups and individuals in the parish.
Meeting St Boswells Community Council meets on the last Thursday of every month (with the exception of July and August). Meetings are held in St Boswells Lesser Village Hall at 7.30 p.m.
