St Boswells Tennis Club

The Club has been in existence since 1920, initially playing on a private grass court at Inchdarnie House in St Boswells.
In 1922, Buccleuch Estate gifted a piece of ground at the curling pond, the courts were constructed and have been there ever since.

The 3 new courts opened by Maria Bueno in 1995 received no Lottery Funding – some other grants were received but the Club had fund-raised since 1976 to convert 1 blaes court into the 3 all-weather courts after Buccleuch Estates had let us have more of the former field’s land. The practice wall has now been removed (as it was unsafe).

The most recent improvements began in 1996, when lottery funding was secured to resurface the courts. This work was completed with the erection of the floodlights in 1999. These improvements have resulted in the club having 3 Floodlit Porous Acrylic courts and 1 blaes court.

To check if the courts are liable to be free, consult the diary – current month visible in the Clubhouse window.

The club welcomes visitors, with an honesty box at the clubhouse.
Visitor passes are priced at £5/person or £15/court for a maximum of two hours.
