A General View of the Hall

St Boswells Nursery, Playgroup and Toddlers Group

This group which meets in St Boswells Village Hall is run by a volunteer committee of parents whose children attend the various sections within the group. We are in Partnership with Scottish Borders Council, from which funding is available for children over 3 years of age.

NURSERY
This is the Pre-School year, run by friendly qualified staff (SVQ Level III) in accordance with the National Curriculum 3 – 5 years.

We have excellent resources, good links with the Primary School, a large indoor area for a variety of activities and a small outdoor area, ideal for summer activities such as sand and water play. We also provide outings to the Fire Station, a local farm at lambing time and to the park to practise for summer sports.

We have good staff - child ratios.

We provide a healthy snack of fruit, cheese, bread, toast with milk or water. Depending on the theme we also sample food from other countries.

This section of the group runs every morning from 9.15 am to 11.45 am.

Should any child need to be dropped off at 8.45 am to coincide with school, negotiations with staff would be required, plus a small fee for insurance purposes.

PLAYGROUP
Children can start Playgroup at 2 ½ years. Parents would be requested to do a "duty" (approx 2 –3 per term). This section of the group is in the same hall as Nursery, taking place on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon from 12.45 pm to 3 pm. A Wednesday afternoon is usually added from January to June, depending on the number of funded children. Activities are parallel with Nursery, but adapted to suit the age of the children.

TODDLERS GROUP
This section of the group is held in the Lesser Hall on a Tuesday morning from 9.30 am to 11.30 am. for aged 0 to 2 1/2

All parents/carers with their children are encouraged to attend, a parent duty rota is in place and provides play activities, outings, songs and rhymes to suit the younger child, as well as a place for parents/carers to meet and to socialise.
£1.50 per session
