Minutes of Meeting 24 September 2015 Lesser Hall, St Boswells Village Hall at 7.30pm
D Oliver advised the meeting of what to do in the event of a fire.
Attending: D Oliver, A Drummond, R Parker, A Marks, D Black, J Pollock, S Pollock, D Black, T Jackson, Councillor Brown and 1 member of the public

Minutes of Last Meeting: On the proposal of A Marks seconded by A Drummond the minute of meeting held on 27 August 2015 was approved
Police Report: See attached Report
Meeting also noted that Her Majesty Inspectorate is consulting with the public about the Police Service and questionnaires can be found on the Scottish Government website.
Village Garden competition Presentation to winner by Ian Crawford, Manager of Keyline scheduled for Saturday 26 September with D Oliver coordinating.
Discussion paper about future format of competition pending.
New memorial bench on Braeheads Path and picnic tables on Green are now installed.
Car boot Sales A Drummond will prepare an addition to the letting correspondence showing a plan of traffic cones and placement to try and resolve issues around vehicle access and parking. A food vendor has been present during recent car boot sales and issues about fees, vending licences and rubbish need to be addressed.
Survey of trees on the Green this follows on from the item last month regarding the safety of the oak tree on ground belonging to Mr and Mrs Bruce. It is understood that Councillor Stewart contacted Simon Wilkinson, SBC Tree Officer and we await response.
Spring Clean of the village continued from previous meeting. R Parker has offered to coordinate late 2015/early 2016 and will contact A Finnie of SBC to access resources and prepare a note for church newsletter.
Grass Cutting awaiting information and a check of location/costs. Deferred to next meeting
War Memorial - funding of £873 to support the exhibition in Village Hall on 08 November 2015 has been approved by Cheviot Forum. Hall is booked and there have been offers of publicity and other materials for the exhibition. The Hall Committee has been asked if they would like to coordinate refreshments. Members of the Community Council who are available can attend a coordinating meeting to be held on 01/10 2015 at 7.30pm at Buccleuch Hotel
Resilient Communities M Evans has prepared a plain English document and R Parker and A Marks will meet with her to progress this initiative
Benrig/Kirk Road A Drummond has contacted A Finnie, SBC for action. Cemetery gates need repair and there are issues about parking
Pot holes on Charlesfield Road SBC have undertaken repairs
Traffic parking on pavements at top of Main Street Councilor Brown agreed to write A Finnie, SBC to arrange for the installation of a fixed bollard
School drop of area in Springfield Terrace the activities of some drivers is dangerous. D Oliver will contact Head Teacher/School Board to refer concerns
Advertising Community Council meetings the CC is concerned about the low public attendance at meetings discussed better use of all village notice boards, publicity via Church newsletter and Jed Eye, using St Boswells facebook page coordinated by K Farrish and Bordernet webpage coordinated by C Denoon
Resignation of A Gillan as member of CC meeting noted position and agreed to defer consideration of co-option to next meeting.
SBC Councillor Brown Report:
Localities Scheme for Cheviot Area D Mallen is compiling a portfolio of community projects for the area and is scheduled to meet with D Oliver and A Drummond at the Vets field and the Bus Stance areas of the village
The new railway has to date been a success and some teething problems have been resolved
SBC Officers are looking at feasibility of coordinated signage at Charlesfield
A68 road works beyond Jedburgh have been completed after 4 years. There is no further information yet about a joint action group with AMEY to cover A68 users.
£9000 Quality of Life funding is available via Cheviot Forum on application
SBC Grass Cutting is being reviewed to ascertain potential savings no proposals tabled as yet

Monies Carried forward at 24 September 2015 - £1293.43
The Road on the Green maintenance Fund (based on 10% income) is £101.75 leaving a balance of £1191.68 normal funds available
A Drummond reported only 1 application for the erection of a fence. Details circulated by email
