"Old St Boswells" Republished

Old St Boswells by Jean Lawrie

In 1974, Jean Lawrie published "Old St Boswells", an excellent book about St Boswells Parish including Old Melrose, St Boswells and Lessudden, its customs and traditions, travel, village roads and buildings, sports played, public health, the police and some notable people.
It was printed in A4 format with thin card covers and 68 pages, but with no index, map or illustrations.
For anyone interested in St Boswells, this is an essential book that has long been out of print.

Christine Lawrie has made some corrections to the text, retyped it, provided updates, added currency conversions and it is now a 100 page book in standard octavo format, with thicker card covers. More importantly she has indexed it, and that makes it more useful as a reference work. There is a fold-out layout of the old roads and the buildings on each road to help the reader identify them.

Christine is generously donating the proceeds from the new book to one of Jean's favourite charities, Dr Graham's Homes in Kalimpong.
